I was driving home from work yesterday listening to Ted Blades interview a woman about the cancer causing chemicals in baby shampoo including the ubiquitous Johnson and Johnson No More Tears products which we have been using since our child was born. I posted a link to the story on Facebook when I got home and the comments started pouring in, along with lots of helpful tips and links to help you sort out the toxins from the safe(r) products. I thought I would share them here in case you heard the same news and are now suddenly wondering what to wash your kid with that isn't going to make them sick or mutate their genes.

Less Toxic Guide
I was only able to find one product at Sobey's that was free of both the Quaternium - 15 and Parfum which were named as ingredients to avoid, Parfum being the more ubiquitous one by far. The product I found was over $12 and called Eco-Kids.
My only advice is to check the link lists for safe products, read the labels on everything you buy, and make your own decision about the right products for your family. And send an email or leave a comment about any good products you find so I can share with readers. Locally Flowerchild on Duckworth and Tval have options, but check the labels to be sure.
It's hard to protect your family from everything, half of the ingredients aren't required to be listed, but you can try to protect your family from toxins when you know about them. And as this article implies, you can send a message to companies when you make educated consumer choices. - Posted from my iPad
