Butter makes everything better

With Suppermoms on hiatus I decided to add a few recipes and dinner tips to this
blog. My newest obsession is compound butter. Basically you make butter with

herbs, citrus, garlic or whatever your heart desires and fridge or freeze it for use any time in pasta, as a final topping for any meat or fish, in a sauce, or even simply for buttering a loaf of good crusty bread. This is a great way to whip up something tasty fast. My butter obsession has included garlic scapes given to us from a friend's garden (see picture), thyme and olive, tarragon and rosemary. I can't wait to try more and I am thinking that they would make a lovely gift for people who love to cook.
